VP of Finance & Operations
Deborah Sterzing serves as the Vice President of Finance and Operations for CognitiveScale, managing all aspects of finance, legal, and accounting for the business. She has held leadership positions in both small and multi-national Fortune 500 companies, working in operational finance, M&A, strategy, and accounting.
Deborah began her career at General Electric, working as a financial analyst with corporate leadership training at GE Capital. She then transitioned to the industrial side of the business where she worked on international joint ventures and billion dollar nuclear projects, managing domestic and international teams in accounting, and FP&A. Deborah decided to apply her skills in the start-up world and took a leadership position with Green Mountain Energy, helping scale the business from a small company in Vermont to a national green energy retailer headquartered in Austin, Texas. She moved to New York City to work for Citigroup, working in corporate finance on Dodd-Frank compliance, tax, and M&A. Directly prior to joining CognitiveScale, Deborah founded a small renewable energy project development company. Deborah has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon in finance and strategy and an undergraduate degree from Colorado College.
