CognitiveScale Launches Guided Care Suite of Healthcare Insights

Applies Big Data Powered Cognitive Intelligence to Deliver Personalized Care and Lower Costs of Managing Chronic Conditions Chicago, IL – April 13, 2015CognitiveScale, the Cognitive Cloud company, announced its Guided Care suite of cognitive healthcare insights today at HIMSS15, the largest conference for Healthcare IT professionals. Powered by cognitive technology, Guided Care Insights is a first of its kind system designed to help patients, care managers and population health executives effectively treat and manage chronic conditions including cancer, diabetes and heart disease. The Guided Care suite of Insights can help reduce emergency room visits annually by more than five percent and reduce hospital use rates up to 30 percent over five years. It represents a new class of data interpretation and learning systems enabled by a convergence of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and feedback driven dynamic learning software. According to Gartner's1, “Business Drivers of Technology Decisions for Healthcare Providers, 2015,” published 27 January 2015_ “IT is a major tool in executing population health management and consumer engagement. Over time, dramatic IT innovations — such as the use of sensors, real-time analytics and cognitive computing — also transform operations toward a real-time intelligent operations paradigm. This will lead to a fundamental shift in the relative importance of IT — and a dramatic increase in complexity — in healthcare provider strategic planning processes and options.” Available today, the Guided Care suite of Insights works on massive amounts of structured and unstructured data from clinical, social, public and devices to generate personalized insights from “dark” data - data that is not machine readable, not easily accessible, or not leveraged. It consists of three major offerings_ Guided Concierge: Reach and engage high-risk patients with one or more chronic conditions through secure, highly personalized insights to help steer them toward better and more effective care compliance. Guided Advisor: Empower care managers with relevant and contextual insights about patients and population risk gleaned from clinical, social, environmental and socio-economic data enabling them to intervene in a timely manner to impact care outcomes and reduce avoidable hospitalizations. Guided Explorer: Inform population health executives with insights about their patient populations enabling them to proactively understand population risk, manage quality of care, reduce costs, and deliver better outcomes. “When you realize that more than one in two adults will be diagnosed with a chronic condition by 2020, you become acutely aware how this will impact the population, economy and healthcare sector,” said Charles Barnett, president of CognitiveScale’s healthcare business group. “Guided Care is more than a significant milestone in our company’s history. It’s a major step forward in the application of cognitive computing and artificial intelligence to squarely address the cost and comfort issues that are encroaching on the vitality of the population.” CognitiveScale at HIMSS CognitiveScale will be demonstrating Insights Fabric and Guided Care at the HIMSS conference in Chicago at booth #5484 located at the Clinical and Business Knowledge Center. Additionally, Charles Barnett will be presenting at two sessions at the conference. He will be speaking on “Evolving Engagement_ Next Wave Technologies,” on April 14 from 11_45-12:45 in Room E353B. The second presentation, “Driving Patient Centric Collaborative Care Using Healthcare Cognitive Clouds,” is scheduled for April 15 from 3_15-3:45 at booth #5484. 1Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in its research publications, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings or other designation.
